“Thus We have made you a justly balanced community that you may be witnesses to mankind and (Muhammed) the Messenger a witness upon you…”

G-d, Most High, provides many Signs within which we find hope, support, and inspiration. We are grateful to Him as we congratulate the Mayor-elect of New York City - Zohran Mamdani and Lieutenant Governor-elect of Virginia Ghazala Hashmi and Amina Bey - Newark NJ city council.

Upon these Muslim-Americans, in our shared Islamic faith and identity, is the obligatory and strengthening pillar of taqwa - awareness, regardfulness, and consciousness of G-d. This is the central principle of government authority and governance as Islam defines it; and it directs Muslim leaders in the ways and policies that must aim to serve, uphold and promote human dignity.

We are thus accountable to G-d, and successes and failures for Islamic leadership are measured in the quality of that accountability. In other words, we must serve a decent and progressive excellence for our constituents and humanity according to the standards established by G-d. This is our lasting reference and reminder. All of these Muslim-American leaders-elect acknowledge this commitment.

Amina Bey

“The one of best service to his fellow man is the best of you,” is Muhammed the Prophet’s statement. The age of tyranny in which we live presently promotes a distant obscurity for such leadership emphasis. But in spite of tyrannical designs, G-d’s Help and Plan abates and abides in the consciences of those devoted to Him to work for a Just Order.

As for all the newly elected leaders, including also the two honorable ladies - Governors-elect of New Jersey and Virginia, respectively, we ask G-d’s Favor and Guidance upon them in their challenges ahead to strengthen our American society and our world.
